Parenting Arrangements

Welcome to Vic Rajah Family Lawyers.

When couples separate, the first question I am asked is what happens with our children?

Every case is different and it is important to understand your family dynamic in providing advice about with whom children will live and how often the non-custodial parent will spend time with them.

I have acted for hundreds of Fathers and Mothers over a number of years and many want assurance that their children will be shielded from a nasty parenting dispute.

My team and I can advise you about your rights and entitlements. Quite often armed with this advice, parents will try to work out arrangements directly with one another through mediation.
In some cases, we are asked to negotiate arrangements with former spouses and or their legal representatives.

Court proceedings may be necessary where parties cannot agree to suitable arrangements or if there has been family violence committed.

Parenting arrangements should be properly-documented and my team are skilled at drawing up Parenting Plans and Consent Orders which cover off on the agreed terms.

Irrespective of where children are living, there is an expectation that both parents will be involved in making major decisions for their children. This includes decisions concerning the child’s health, education, travel and religious observance.

It may be necessary for your lawyer to assist if there are difficulties with an ex-partner.

My team and I have dealt with countless custody and contact disputes and can guide you with your parental rights.
We have experience with parents wanting to either relocate or preventing a relocation taking place where a parent wishes to move interstate or overseas with the children. We have also assisted grandparents who may have been excluded from their grandchildren.

The issue of financial support for children often arises and we are able to provide targeted advice on child support and adult child maintenance.

The team at Vic Rajah Family Lawyers look forward to meeting with you and you should contact my Practice Manager, Libby Vandenberg on 9781 4222 or via this website to secure an appointment.
